Getting Around Downtown Downtown travel is a breeze on the VIA Streetcar, an open air, authentic reproduction of a rail streetcar which traveled the streets of San Antonio more than 50 years ago. Four streetcar routes to downtown locations, including the Alamo, the Spanish Governor's Palace, La Villita, Sunset Station, the Southwest School of Art and Craft, the Institute of Texan Cultures, the King William Historic Distric area and downtown shopping. There is convenient access to all routes from the downtown streetcar station on Convention Plaza. Fares - $1.00.
Visitors may purchase a convenient One day Pass ($3.75) available at all VIA Information Centers or online at http://www.viainfo.net/ . VIA's Downtown Information Center (260 East Houston) is open six days a week, Monday - Friday 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Other Information Centers are located at Crossroads mall, Randolph Park & Ride and Ingram Transit Center. The 2008 Final Four in San Antonio is a great place to spend a weekend watching the best men's college basketball teams in the NCAA. To have some fun in between the games visit some of the attractions listed below to make sure that you experience the 2008 NCAA Final Four in San Antonio at its best.

Start with the Alamo in downtown San Antonio and relive the famous thirteen days of heroic struggle that became the battle cry for Texas Liberty.
While still feeling a little Texas nostalgia, head just around the bend to the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum where you’ll find an extraordinary collection of cowboy memorabilia, Texas collectibles, exotic animals and a chance to test your aim in their shooting gallery. Nothing says San Antonio quite like El Mercado. Market Square is patterned after an authentic Mexican market with 32 shops to browse through and an additional 80 specialty shops in Farmers Market Plaza. Take home an authentic Mexican collectible with your Final Four souvenir and be sure to stop by Mi Tierra for some fajitas and empanadas before you leave the Market.
Your Road to San Antonio would not be complete without a stroll down Paseo Del Rio in the heart of downtown, which is truly the pride of the city. In between games and NCAA events, find a place to relax along the River Walk's three miles of unique retail shops, restaurants and nightclubs.

You may also want to take in a movie during your stay at the Aztec on the River or the IMAX Theater located in the Rivercenter mall. A walk through the King William Historic Area, La Villita, and the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park would be the perfect way to round out a warm San Antonio spring afternoon.

This is the layout for the Men's NCAA Basketball Final Four in San Antonio, Texas. The dates they will play are Saturday April 5 for the Final Four games and Monday April 7 for the Championship game.

HOTELS-Finding a room for the 2008 Final Four

Hotels are hard to find at any Final Four, however hotels.com (link to left) still has some rooms available. I recommend staying as close as possible to the River Walk. This is where all of the restaurants, bars, stores and festivities are lcoated.
